Environment Week

We had a very successful time last week and we definitely achieved our aim of raising environmental awareness! The week got off to a great start with Year 1 children working with the Royal Academy of Music to produce a piece for assembly. The week finished with a Year 6 drama workshop and they presented their work to the school at the end of the day. In between we had discussion groups and talks from visitors as well as lots of things happening in classes. We’ve also now got some ‘litter-pickers’ to pick up litter without having to keep bending over and there’s a new recycling bin for metal cans, plastic and glass to go with our paper recycling bin. We’ve also got a couple of composting bins for organic waste to go with the one John Riordan sorted out last year. There’s one in the main playground near the curved bench that can be used for apple cores, peel from fruit, etc.

I’d like to say a big ‘Thank You’ to everyone who was involved in last week, but especially to Sarah Taylor who coordinated the whole thing.

The important thing now is to take some of the good things that happened last week and make sure they continue to be  developed.

Epson Ink

In the spirit of recycling, we’ve got some ink cartridges from a broken printer that we can no longer use. We’ve got 5 black and 2 colour cartridges for an Epson Stylus Photo 810, 820, 830, 830U, 925, or 935. The black cartridges also fit a C50.

If you can use them, see Margaret or Breeda in the office. First come, first served!

School Nurse

We have a new school nurse, Kelly Fredell, and she is arranging a ’drop in’ session for parents. She will be in the Medical Room (outside Year 6) from 2.45 on May 8th. If there’s anything you want to ask, feel free to see her.
