I hope everybody
had a good break and it’s good to see everyone back ready for the
final term of this year.
Staff News
Miss Crowther
visited the school yesterday with her new daughter, Evie. Mum and
baby both looked very well and it was good to see them.
Life Education
Mobile Classroom
We have a visit
from the mobile classroom around this time every year. The visit
provides health lessons for the children about the importance of
their bodies and how to take care of them. They also run a session
for parents and carers and this year it will be on this Friday from
8.55 am to 9.15. You should have a letter about this with a reply
slip - if not, please talk to someone in the school office. The
classroom is only with us for two days this year which is why the
sessions are shorter. Unfortunately, cutbacks to the Life Education
Centre’s budget mean that what we pay for the classroom has
increased substantially and we are unable to fund this at the level
we have done in the past. I suspect this will be a recurring theme
over the next few years.
Governor of the
Week
Our ‘Governor of
the Week’ is Dr Robert Bell and he writes:
“I was appointed a governor by the London Diocesan Board of Schools
in 1999 and am now vice-chairman of the Governors. I’m retired now
but I previously taught the history of education first at Edinburgh
University and then the Open University after spending nine years
as a school teacher in Ireland. At St. Mary’s I’m particularly
interested in the teaching of history and in religious education;
I’m a member of the staffing and admissions committees and was also
a member of the Governors’ working party looking at ways of
extending the work of the school in the community.”
