Parent Governor Election

You should have received a letter last week informing you of the outcome of our Parent Governor Election. In fact, no election was needed because we only had one nomination for the two vacancies. I’d like to thank Jill McCullough for being willing to stand and congratulate her on her appointment. We will try to fill the remaining vacancy in September.

Music

You will know that we have a number of staff leaving at the end of the school year for a variety of excellent reasons. We need to add Gordon Fricker, one of our music teachers, to the list. Gordon has taught individual musical instrument lessons at St Mary’s for over ten years and has been a key figure in our Musical Extravaganza as well as supporting Alison Bowden, our music coordinator. We wish Gordon lots of luck in his new venture and are very grateful for all the fantastic things that he has helped us to achieve musically at St Mary’s.

Gordon’s piano tuition will be taken over by Felix Tanner next year.

Summer Activities

The ‘Children First’ magazine is now only available online. The Summer edition is now published, with lots of summer activities for children, and can be found at:

Congratulations

...to Vigan in Year 6. Vigan is a member of the Karate Club that meets at St Mary’s and was recently awarded his black belt; an astonishing achievement for an 11 year old! Well done!

Summer Fair

The Summer Fair raised £3,721.91 (profit) this year. This is the most we have made for a very long time - possibly, ever! The committee worked really hard this year and I’d like to thank them again, as well as all those parents who turned up to run stalls, set out and tidy up. It was a great community event and a great success on many levels.

Thursday

Thursday is the last day of Term and the last day of this school year. Thursday will also be a non-uniform day. Please send your child to school with £1 donation if he, or she, wants to wear their own clothes.
