I just want to
say a big thank you to all the staff at school for their
professionalism and dedication last week. We have over 30 people on
our staff and nobody allowed the bad weather conditions to prevent
them from coming to school. Hopefully the weather will start to
improve now.
The
playground is still a little icy in parts but it’s OK to use with
care. We do have a few bags of salt, but we’re keeping them to make
sure the main entrance is ice-free should the snow return. You can
imagine just how much salt would be needed to treat the whole
playground and it’s in short supply at the moment.
... and
congratulations!
Another bit of
good news! Len Clark, our Chair of Governors, was awarded an MBE in
the New Year’s Honours List. Len has been a governor at St Mary’s
for many years as well as being involved in the Scouts and with
Custody Visiting. Len isn’t ‘just’ involved in these activities as a
volunteer, but also at an organisational level. We’re really
pleased that his voluntary work has been recognised - nobody
deserves it more.
Marylebone Road
You may remember
that there was a petition last summer to try and improve the
Marylebone Road crossing by Enford Street. This was driven by one of
our parents and has been successful! It should now be possible to
cross the road in one movement in the morning and I hope you’ve
noticed that this is now a little easier.
However,
it’s still really important that everyone is very careful crossing
the road - vehicles often drive through red lights at this crossing
and the icy conditions make it even more important for pedestrians
to take care. Some families are also still dashing across the road
diagonally, which is REALLY dangerous. Please use the crossing and
keep safe.
