Well done to
everyone who made storytelling week such a great success last week.
It was great seeing the work that Year 1 and Year 2 had done over
the week in their assembly on Friday afternoon. The junior classes
are showing their work this afternoon. This project isn’t just about
last week, though, and we will continue to develop this work over
the next few months.
Attendance
We gave out
certificates to the children who had 100% attendance for the Autumn
terms (September to Christmas) today. Usually we give out about 40
certificates; today we gave out 79, which is astonishing when you
remember that the autumn terms were the terms that swine ‘flu seemed
to be most active.
Holiday
I hope everybody
has a restful holiday next week; it’s been a really busy term.
Over the holiday
we are hoping to have some awnings installed outside Years 1, 2 and
3. The idea is that they’ll keep the sun off those class rooms and
provide a little shade - though too much sun doesn’t seem to be a
problem at the moment.
The funding for
this project is coming from The Rose Foundation. They are a local
charity who have provided grants for a number of projects over the
past few years, including the installation of air-conditioning in
two of our classes and the re-surfacing of the car park to provide
level access to the school from this area as well as improve the
surface for the people who use this path to access the building
after school.
We’re very
grateful to the Rose Foundation for their support with small
building projects.
