Black History
Month is an international event that celebrates the lives,
achievements and contributions of black and minority ethnic people
and communities. It is an event that has been celebrated in the UK
for over twenty-two years.
Sonia Walker,
our EMA (Ethnic Minority Achievement) coordinator is organising an
assembly Friday 23rd October. She writes:
“A Black History Month Assembly based upon the theme of ‘role models
and aspirations’ will be held in the school hall on
Friday 23rd October
at
9.15
am. I am looking for inspirational people to speak during this
assembly. If you would like to speak at the assembly, or to a class,
please contact me through the school office by Thursday, 15th
October.”

Maths Focus Week
This week we
having a ‘Maths Focus Week.’ You may remember that we often hold
special weeks during the year - Art Week and Story Telling Week last
year, for example. We’ve got a few special weeks coming up in the
Spring and Summer Terms, but we’ve also squeezed a maths week into
this term. We’re focusing on problem solving and investigations
during the week and you can support this with the tasks and extra
bits of work that will be going home.
Year 6 Secondary
Transfer
The
Local Authority (Westminster) have asked me to remind parents of
Year 6 pupils about the proof of address that they require with the
green secondary transfer form.
“All
applicants are now required to provide proof of their child's home
address with their applications. The following evidence is
acceptable:
Council Tax Bill, Council/Housing Association Tenancy Agreement,
Child Benefit Book/Notification.
The evidence provided must be dated no more than six months prior to
the application. The Admissions Team may check Electoral Roll
and/or Council Tax records to verify the address given and may also
request further proof of address if necessary.”
Singing Lessons
Just a reminder
that we are now able to offer singing lessons: £7.50 for 15 minutes.
Ask at the school office for an application form if you’re
interested.
